The door

By Charlee Hunkin, year 8, St Sampson’s School

As I slowly walked down the green path I noticed something hidden behind a bush. I walked towards it. Behind the bush was a small wooden door. I was curious about what was behind it. Without hesitation, I opened the door. I looked down to see a hole but, there was light coming from down below. I leaned in closer but I slipped and fell down!

I woke up on a pile of leaves. Gently opening my eyes I saw something flying in the sky. I sat up and was amazed at what I saw...There were people everywhere but they weren't ordinary people. They had pointy ears and they all had long hair. I noticed one of them seemed to make something float with only the touch of their hand. I looked around I seemed to be in another world. The sky was a greeny blue colour and there seemed to be trees that were so tall that they seemed to have no end. I stood up and looked around some more. The strange people greeted me as I walked down the grassy path. After a few minutes of walking, I came across a hill. I looked up to see a huge castle. It had golden windows and a huge silver gate. There was a garden which had the most beautiful flowers I had ever seen! I was amazed by all this that yet again I slipped. I opened my eyes to see another one of the strange people standing above me. He seemed to be dressed very fancily. He smiled at me and offered his hand. I took it and stood up. The doors of the castle suddenly swung open. He took my hand and led me inside. The inside was the most enchanting thing I had ever seen. The entire room was gold and shiny. Many other of the strange people greeted me warmly. I smiled and said to myself...

"I think I'm going to like it here."

I never returned to my original home. Instead I stayed in this enchanting world.
