Secret Islands

By Gracia Van Zutphen, year 7, Grammar School

I was excited because I was finally moving house. It's a nice place!

The next day I was exhausted because I had to work all day and still wasn't finished. I decided to surreptitiously sneak out to take a walk around the tropical beaches. I was so out of breath that I needed a rest and I sat down on the shiny, hot sand. I was so relaxed, it was hard to stand up and get back to work. I woke up and found out that I slept more than five hours and

‘Where even am I?’

The trees are made of broccoli and the clouds are cotton candy. What is this place? My hands began to shake.

‘What's that?' I saw a shadow of someone or something.

My hands are shaking and I am getting more afraid. I rush behind the broccoli tree. When I had my chance to run away, I took it. When I was far away I found a huge piece of salad.

‘Where did that come from?’

I walked peacefully until I saw a pile of blood. All of a sudden my heart started to to go faster. But it didn't look like blood and there was only one way to find out. Yuck! I dipped my finger in and tasted it.

‘It's ketchup! But where did it come from?’

I heard footsteps and the ground began to shake. As time passed, a shadow behind me came bigger and bigger. When I turned around a huge tasty burger was standing right in front of me. Before I could eat it, it started eating me. I rushed away, trying to find my way back home. But what it was trying to do was to shake my hand and be my friend.
