Intermediate. Years 7/8/9

By Bella Edwards, year 8, La Mare de Carteret School

I woke up and got ready for my karate class as usual. It's going okay until I'm on the floor and the last thing I see is black.

I woke up on soft grass and the sun shining in my eyes. Minutes later a tall man ran up to me. He looked frightened as if he was running away from someone/something. "Quick get up! Behind this tree." He pulled me up off the grass and we ran to the tree.

"Dude, are you alright?" I question him; maybe he could tell me where I am.

"Yeah, just watch out, someone is after me," he whispered, keeping a look out for whatever he was running from.

Soon after bears with wings went flying past us, not even aware of our existence. "Is that what-" The man stopped me from finishing my sentence when even more bears rushed past us. He sighed and turned to me, "It's not safe here, are you the one whose come to help?" "Me? help? with what?"

"I'm not sure. I don't even know where I am," he shot me a confused look. "Well you're here, in Owhelia!" He held a bow and arrow and wore a camouflaged outfit, with pockets stuffed with golden coins.

"Did you steal.. all those coins?" He looked down at his pockets and smirked. "Well yes I did, but for the right reasons,"

We walked on and on through the forest, he told me his name (Tod) and explained to me that he took the coins from an evil rat named Marcus. "He takes away money for himself, making people miserable." I knew I had to do something, so Tod and I grabbed some weapons and went into the town were Marcus was.

Marcus stood in front of us ready for battle. Whoever won would get the golden coins.

More and more people gathered round as Marcus, Tod and I were in the centre, seconds before fighting. The rat grew weak and scurried away leaving us with all the coins and I was free to go back home.
